J. Wayne Mumphrey, the firm’s founder and namesake, started practicing law in 1971 after graduating from Loyola University. He has tried hundreds of civil and criminal cases in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. Wayne has dedicated his career to helping people in need, whether in recovering for personal injuries or fighting for their liberty.
In addition to representing individuals, Wayne has represented large and small businesses in commercial disputes, insurance coverage matters and civil litigation defense. In addition to his experience as a lawyer, Wayne draws upon years of experience as a business owner in representing these clients. Wayne has also represented governmental entities including the St. Bernard Parish Government and the St. Bernard Parish Water & Sewage Commission.
In 1999, the Louisiana Supreme Court appointed Wayne to serve as a Judge pro tempore to fill a temporary vacancy in the 34th Judicial District Court. In 2007, Governor Blanco appointed Wayne to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans for a five-year term. In 2011, Wayne served as the Board’s Chairman.
